DELHI GOVT HIKES WAGES FOR UNSKILLED, SKILLED LABOUR

The Delhi Government has increased minimum wages of skilled, semi skilled and unskilled labour  by about 5%. Delhi Industries and labour minister Ramakant Goswami said the wages have come into effect from April 1. The new rates, said Mr. Goswami are applicable to all 29 scheduled employment categories notified by the government. The last revision of wages was done in October 2011. Mr. Goswami said minimum wages for unskilled labour has been increased by Rs. 364 a month, from Rs. 6656 to 7020. For Semi Skilled labour, the wages have been hiked from Rs. 7358 to Rs. 7748 an increase of Rs.390 a month. The skilled labour will now be paid Rs. 8528 an increase of Rs. 406 from earlier wages of Rs. 8112 a month.

"The minimum wages for non-matriculates have been increased from Rs. 7358 to 7748, for matriculates the new wages are Rs. 8528 and for graduates and above the wages have been increased from Rs. 8814 to 9282", Said Mr. Goswami
